Washington, Mar 29, 2007 -  Today, Congressman John Shadegg (R-AZ) issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate vote that establishes a hard deadline for American troop withdrawal from Iraq :

“Make no mistake, the Senate Democrat war supplemental hurts, undercuts and demoralizes our troops. Last weekend, after the House passed a bill setting a hard deadline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops, the father of a Navy Seal sought me out to express his son’s outrage and disappointment at the House vote. The son, who is somewhere in Iraq or Afghanistan (for security reasons he cannot disclose his exact location to his parents), called his father and told him that he should tell me how upset his son and his son’s colleagues are with the House vote.

“Those in the House who voted to undermine our troops, and those in the Senate who did so today, should be ashamed. If they have the votes to get out today, then vote to do so. Don’t undermine our brave men and women on the front lines in the war against radical Islam.”
